In celebration of this year’s harvest at Backsberg, we thought it would be wonderful to share the magic on the farm by delivering a mini harvest parcel to fifteen Cape wine enthusiasts…
Wanting to keep our harvest parcels as organic and as close to nature as possible, our team went in search of only the finest natural ingredients, which would ultimately make up an authentic “harvest in a box” experience.
Designed to delight the senses, each delivery contained a bottle of Backsberg wine as well as various elements from nature, which were carefully selected to “describe” the tasting notes of that bottle.
We sent out three different varieties of wine; our Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage Rosé and Chenin Blanc. To depict the tasting notes of the Sauvignon Blanc, its delivery included dried limes and fresh granadillas. The contents of the Pinotage Rosé box created an aromatic explosion of dried mint and cherries, while dried pineapple and peach pips were sourced to represent our Chenin Blanc. In addition, each box contained a bottle of melon seed oil, soil from our vineyard and a scented lotion to add to the sensory experience.
Each recipient of this special gift was asked to post a picture of themselves, on social media, enjoying the contents of their harvest parcel. All entries stood the chance of winning a one night stay for two at Cascade Country Manor, including a harvest-inspired spa treatment and lunch and wine tasting at Backsberg. While we were over the moon with all entries, it was Nicola Nelson -– better known as The Wine Fox on Instagram -– who really caught our eye. Thank you Nicola for the outstanding effort you put into entering our harvest competition. We hope you enjoy your prize!
