Backsberg lies on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain, equidistant from Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek in the heart of the Cape Winelands. At Backsberg we arrange your event to your specifications, nothing is written in stone.  A professional and dedicated team will welcome you and assist step by step in planning to ensure that every detail is executed to the highest standard on the day.


Option 1: The Rose Garden

This versatile venue can accommodate 80 guests.

Modern tiled floors enhance the acoustics and ambiance of this venue. Enter from the garden onto a veranda and through a French door which brings natural light and the gardens into the venue. On the side of the venue is a private courtyard which is ideal for a social gathering after a presentation.

Option 2: The Backsberg Restaurant

Experience true Backsberg hospitality in our gardens beneath the trees or indoors in a cellar environment. Our talented culinary team will take you on a mouth-watering journey of the senses with locally sourced produce and home style tried-and-tested recipes. These decadent dishes are paired with Backsberg’s award-winning selection of wines. Children will be entertained by a delightful garden play area whilst parents are encouraged to relax beneath the trees on our terrace, or during the cooler months, by the warmth of the fireplace.

In both instances, your menu will be compiled to your specifications with the assistance of our flexible and accommodating chefs. Their wealth of ideas and years of experience will ensure the ultimate in quality food for your guests. Our events offering caters for vegetarian and Halaal guests at an additional cost.


We also offer a number of group or team building activities based on 10 – 100 guests, as per the below:

1. Wine Blending Competition: (R125 p/p)

Hosted by our sommelier or tasting room manager, this fun interactive activity allows guests to fully understand the art of Wine Blending. Three cultivars are used to create five blends which will be judged accordingly. The team with the winning blend will receive a fantastic prize.

2. Cellar Tour and Formal Wine Tasting (R120 p/p)

Experience a guided tour of the Backsberg Cellar and Brandy Still Room followed by a  formal tasting in the Historic Vat Cellar.

3. Chocolate/Cheese and Wine Pairing (R95 p/p)

Guests will be treated to a selection of either Dalewood Fromage Cheeses or Huguenot Fine Chocolates paired with Backsberg’s finest wines in an intimate tasting or garden setting.
