Johannesburg’s most loved and longest-standing jazz event, the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz festival, turns 21 this year and spans over three days – from 27 to 29 September. Backsberg is over the moon to, once again, be the official wine supplier of the festival, with Backsberg wines stocked at all the event’s public bars as well as corporate hospitality suites.
Taking place at the the Sandton Convention Centre across 5 stages, audiences will enjoy over 20 performances from a legion of international giants and luminaries of the jazz world, as well as leading lights of the local jazz scene. Headline acts include two-time Grammy winning Composer and Vocalist, Cassandra Wilson from Jackson, Mississippi as well local Session Trumpeter-sensation and famous member of Mango Groove, Sydney Mavundla.
Apart from a star-studded jazz line-up, guests this year will be able to enjoy a wine and chocolate pairing from Backsberg and Huguenot Chocolates. The pairing will take place throughout the three day festival on Level 4 and will include four chocolate delights paired with four Backsberg wines.
