A professional and dedicated team will welcome you to Backsberg and assist you step by step in planning your function and ensure that every detail is executed on the day.
Venue 1: Neville’s Place at Backsberg
Neville’s Place at Backsberg is a versatile venue with sliding panels which transform this large venue into smaller areas, suitable for groups of 50 up to 250 guests. The draped ceiling and wooden floor enhance the acoustics, overall appearance and ambiance of this large venue. On one side, French doors open onto a veranda overlooking the estate gardens and mountains in the distance. On the other, the venue opens completely, flowing into a stunning courtyard boasting a central garden feature and a cozy corner complete with a feature fireplace. Allocated lawns ideal for break away venues, team building activities and al fresco dining are easily accessible from this venue. Other exclusive venues include the historical Vat Cellar and Annex. These may also serve as break away venues for larger conference groups.
Extreem Kwizeen, an established and reputable catering company, forms part of our team. Your menu will be compiled to your specifications with the assistance of our flexible and accommodating chefs. Their wealth of ideas and years of experience will ensure the ultimate in quality food for your guests.
Venue 2: Backsberg Restaurant
Weather permitting we will set up tables in the beautiful, tranquil restaurant garden in the shade of the Oak trees. Our restaurant specialty is Lamb on the Spit accompanied by our famous roast potatoes and a variety of lovely summer salads. However you are welcome to discuss a menu with us.
We do also have vegetarian options and are able to accommodate halaal and Kosher guests at a surcharge of R50 per person.
TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITIES
We also offer a number of group or team building activities.
Optional Group Activities for 10 – 100 guests:
1. Tractor Ride and Wine Tasting with a view: (R95 p/p)
On arrival guests meet on the tasting room verandah for a glass of Chenin Blanc or Fruit Juice and welcome to Backsberg. Grab a bottle of chilled mineral water and climb onto the tractors for a scenic drive through the vineyards. Enjoy an informal wine tasting hosted under the trees overlooking Backsberg vineyards and a magnificent panoramic view of the Paarl Valley and Simonsberg Mountains. Guests are encouraged to wear trousers,comfortable shoes,sunscreen and a hat for this “farm experience.”
2. Wine Blending Competition: (R85 p/p)
Hosted by Danwin James, our informative and very entertaining tasting room manager and Sommelier. This fun interactive activity allows guests to fully understand the art of Wine Blending.
Three cultivars are used to create five blends which will be judged by Backsberg Management.The team with the winning blend will receive a fantastic prize.
3. Cellar Tour and Formal Wine Tasting (R50.00 p/p)
Guided Tour of the Backsberg Cellar and Brandy Still Room. A formal tasting of Award Winning Wines in the Historic Vat Cellar.
4. Tree Planting: (R250 p/p)
Contribute towards Backsberg’s “green philosophy” and efforts to reduce humanity’s carbon footprint. Included in the price is a tree each which you can plant or we can plant it for you. You will also receive a personalised plaque to dedicate the tree to a person or occasion. The cost also includes maintaining your tree and plaque in the future.
We are also able to arrange a variety of fun filled “physical” and “mental” challenges through a reputable activities company.
We also have break away venues for discussions or group work.
