New Vintage Release: Pumphouse Shiraz 2014
We are pleased to announce that the 2014 vintage of our celebrated Pumphouse Shiraz has just been released. As part of Backsberg’s Black Label Range, only grapes from our top performing vineyards are used to produce this stunning red. The wines within this range are named after a particular place or person integral to the farm’s history. In this case, the wine is named after the pumphouse situated on the farm which was originally used to pump water from the Berg River to our dam.
The 2014 vintage displays aromas of black cherry, raspberry and rich mocha interlaced with subtle tones of aniseed and vanilla. The use of both French and American oak creates layers of flavours, with the latter contributing sweeter vanilla characters that fill the mid-palate. The palate has great weight and depth due to layers of fruit tannins and oak combinations. There is sheer flavour intensity to our broody Pumphouse Shiraz and it pairs perfectly with roast game and winter stews. Be prepared for a wow-factor wine that certainly packs a punch!
