Backsberg Estate Cellars Kicks-off Centenary Year with Lively Set of Sunday Picnic Concerts

The popular Picnic Concerts annually held on Backsberg Estate Cellars in Paarl will have an especially celebratory vibe this year as this pioneering wine estate celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2016. Founded in 1916 by CL Back, an immigrant from Lithuania, Backsberg Estate Cellars has been presided over by four generations of the Back family. Current CEO Simon Back and his team are planning a range of events during the year to mark this important milestone in the Estate’s history.

“Wine and hospitality have always been an integral part of the Backsberg tradition,” says Back, “and our Sunday picnic concerts have allowed Backsberg to bring these two elements together in what has now become a winelands institution. We have an exciting line-up of musicians this year who will no doubt help us and the winelands get into the spirit of an exciting year to come. You don’t always turn 100, so we plan to make 2016 a year to remember.”
