Simonsberg Paarl Rotary MTB Challenge – 8 September 2012

This event has been voted by PPA as the best/most improved event for the year.
Backsberg is excited to once again play host to the Simonsberg Paarl Rotary MTB Challenge on the 8th September.  Organised and managed by the members of the Paarl Rotary Club, under the auspices of the Pedal Power Association, all the proceeds from this event go towards local Rotary charity projects. There are a number of routes on offer to suit your skill and fitness level. Earning a reputation as being one of the most scenic, as well as challenging, MTB challenges, this year’s race promises to be no different.

Race Distances and Starting Times
-Long Route 45 km to start @ 08h00 (the real toughie!)
-Medium Route 30 km to start @ 08h30
-Short Route 15km to start @ 09h00
-Children’s Race 5km to start @ 09h15
The prize giving and cut-off time will be at 12h30.

NOTE:   The long route requires more technical riding skills than the average PPA funride. It should be seen as a challenge and is aimed at the fit rider, definitely not for the first entrant! Some route changes may occur. All children u/10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Family Activities at Backsberg for the Day!
Our aim for the mountain bike race is to make the day as enjoyable as possible to all the riders as well as their families.  We have therefore arranged for the following activities during the day:

Jumping castle for the kids
Wine tasting
Face painting
Culinary experience

Note: there will also be a bike wash facility for R5 per bike
